Hacettepe University Department of Food Engineering’s undergraduate programme is designated again as a European-Accredited Engineering Bachelor Degree Programme. The accreditation has been provided by the Engineering Education Programs Evaluation and Accreditation Association (MÜDEK) for 5 years as of September 30, 2021.
Histrory

3 June 1975

Establishment of Hacettepe University Food Engineering Department as Department of Food Analysis and Technology.

Department of Food Analysis and Technology"was established at the Hacettepe University School of Health Technology at Sıhhiye Campus to give a two-year associate degree. 

In the academic year of 1975-1976, students were accepted to the department and education begun.

1975

“Department of Food Analysis and Technology” has been transfered to Hacettepe University Family and Consumer Sciences, which provides a 4-year education and a bachelor's degree.

17 June 1976

"Department of Food Analysis and Technology" has been transferred to Hacettepe University School of Health Technology.

1976

Students who started their education in the “Department of Food Analysis and Technology” in the academic year of 1975-1976 received "English Preparatory" education in the academic year of 1976-1977.

12 Nov 1977

Food Analysis and Technology Department was transferred to Hacettepe University Faculty of Engineering and its name was changed to Department of Food Engineering.

Department of Food Engineering was moved to Beytepe Campus. 

A building, which was an extension of the main building of Earth Sciences, was allocated to the Department of Food Engineering.

Since the academic year of 1977-1978, the department started to continue its education at the Faculty of Engineering.

1980

With a title of Food Engineer, first students graduated from the Department of Food Engineering 

24 Oct 1983

The Department of Food Engineering moved to its current building, which was completed by a DPT project. 

15 Oct 2015

The Department of Food Engineering was extended with an additional building.
